Be real – only Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum could have followed up the most amazing thing the Emmy’s have ever had happen with that huge choreography dance tribute. As Derek Hough said, “Hooooly crap.” I can’t put it any better than that. And so, we go onto a list of the best things the 2013 Emmy’s had for us!

The 2013 Emmy's were aired on CBS.

The 2013 Emmy’s aired on CBS.

  1. NPH letting characters from TV shows give him advice. It’s too bad that none of these could be done in an updated format, by having certain scenes recreated. Probably a copyright nightmare, huh?
  2. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s bit with NPH, and their presentation. From the 3D classes and popcorn to the crawling up to the podium, these two women are fine entertainers and f*#@ing amazing people.
  3. Merrit Weaver winning an Emmy! And then her speech. Oh God, her speech. Brief though it was…memorable it will be forever.
  4. “Now please give it up for hip hop legends, LL Cool J, and Malin Akerman.” – NPH (And Malin’s dress! Flowy and elegant. GIVE IT TO ME.)
  5. TINA FEY AND Tracey Wigfield WON! I really like Wigfield. AND I LOVE HUMOR. Let’s all be happier and funnier, okay? WE JUST MADE A PACT, SO HONOR IT. “There are not many people in this world who make me feel lazy and stupid. And by comparison, you make me feel that way every day. And for that, I take you.” – Tina Fey
  6. Emily Deschanel and Zooey Deschanel together on stage, in outfits that kind of coordinated, without being too matchy. Those blue dresses (and earrings!) were so romantic.
  7. All the Veep love – from Anna Chlumsky to Julia Louis Dreyfus to Tony Hale. Veep is such a good show, guys! I love that Hale started his speech off with, “Here’s the deal.” MACON, GEORGIA SHOUT-OUT. Plus, I loved the bit where Tony Hale had to carry Louis-Dreyfus’ purse, and Chlumsky on her phone. Comedians are awesome, man. I AM IN SUCH A GOOD MOOD. “It’s a joyful way to make a living.” – Julia. Big love to Armando Iannucci.
  8. A woman won for best comedy directing! Gale Mancuso for Modern Family!
  9. Sofia Vergara and Jimmy Kimmel with their laughter kills presentation.
  10. Elton John wore blue.
  11. Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigna, Josh Radnor doing a bit about EHD – Exhausting Hosting Disorder. But where was Jason Segel?! Oh, there he was. Looking super skinny…hm. THE INTERVENTION SIGN! I love How I Met Your Mother. Arsenio Hall! Ha. The Ryan Seacrest Center for Excessive Hosting. Aw.
  12. Henry Bromell’s wife.
  13. Connie Britton’s presence and dress. Which are just everything. Although I don’t know that it erases my memory of her bad hair last year.
  14. Jane Lynch’s speech about Cory Monteith. I didn’t love the actor the way many Gleeks did, but even so… a sad loss for us all.
  15. The Number in the Middle of the Show.
  16. Nathan Fillion! “Shut up, I’m gonna sing.”
  17. Christina Hendrick’s thoughtful face.
  18. Kerry Washington’s confidence on stage.
  19. Jeff Daniels speech intro, “Well, crap.”
  20. Bob Newhart as an accountant. And then the standing ovation for him. WELL DESERVED.
  21. Claire Danes acceptance speech. This lady is just SMART and well-spoken. Sometimes I forget that I talked with Hugh Dancy once, and then I remember how cool I am because I DID THAT. Oh, come on, let me gloat! I have so little to gloat about.
  22. CARRIE PRESTON. Her Jessica Rabbit hair! And Melissa Miller of Small Screen Scoop did an entire exclusive interview with her, so now I’m taking a moment to gloat on her behalf. tyvm.
  23. Emilia Clarke’s accent. And dress. And guys, I am not-so-secretly trying to fake a good British accent, and hers is a good one to copy.
  24. Oprah! She loves Jimmy Kimmel. “And…him.”
  25. John Stewart as a muppet.
  26. The Portlandia presentation. I LOVE that show.
  27. Real Time with Bill Maher using the Toddler’s and Tiara’s girls for their presentation.
  28. Michael J. Fox.
  29. Neil surprising the choreographer’s so they can perform at the Emmy’s. The dancers! The red wall of hands! The way they changed the song to accompany the different shows. The fusing of Boardwalk Empire with that Daft Punk song was…amazing… but then we had the Breaking Bad… and Big Bang Theory… I mean, EVERYTHING JUST KEPT GETTING BETTER. The Emmy’s has never done anything cooler than this. (Zachary Quinto, how you make me smile, being in the audience for just a second!) AND THEN TIM GUNN AND HEIDI KLUM PRESENTED IT. Oh, give me a break – you’re making me WILD WITH JOY. (And Klum’s CASUAL way of being like, “hi everybody!”)
  30. Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulderes both got to present! And their dresses were both freaking fantastic.
  31. Kevin Spacey flicking the camera for focusing on him.
  32. Steven soderbergh’s brief speech that summed everything up.
  33. Lots of praise for Political Animals, a very deserving show on the USA Network.
  34. Ellen Burstyn’s classy speech about playing a woman over 65, “who still had a lot of juice.”
  35. Michael Douglas’ accidental joke about, “this is a two hander.” And then his purposeful bottom/top thing.
