Is Jef Holm Mormon? Even he doesn’t seem to know.
With four bachelors left on The Bachelorette 2012, it’s time for Emily Maynard to meet some families! But there may be a hiccup in that plan…
In a recent teleconference, Jef Holm opened up a bit about his parents. When Maynard goes to Utah to meet with some of Holm’s family, his parents won’t be there. They are Mormon missionaries in South Carolina. (What’s going on in South Carolina that they need missionaries?!)
Holm’s sister-in-law is the one who submitted Jef’s application. When he got a call from the officials to send in a tape, he almost wasn’t going to. He said that it was, “because I come from a really private family. I’m really private about my life. And I didn’t want to go out on a dating TV show.”
But, of course, he did.
And now people are interested in him. He’s he Mormon like his parents? Slightly Mormon? Half Mormon?
“I’m not half Mormon,” Holm says. “I was raised Mormon. And my family is still Mormon. My parents raised me with the standards of the Mormon Church and everything. And I’m just not practicing right now. I mean, faith is something that’s a huge priority on my list and in my life. And I’m really active in church and everything. I’m just not active Mormon.”
Make sense? Yea, not really.
This matters even more if you are invested in Emily Maynard and Ricki, because rumors say that Jef Holm is who Maynard picks! Does this mean Emily and Ricki may some day become Mormons? And won’t late night talk shows have fun with making lots of The Bachelorette/Polygamy jokes? (Editor’s Note: We know that contemporary Mormon’s are not Polygamists, but we do believe the late night talk shows will make those kinds of jokes anyway.)
We hope Emily Maynard inquire about his faith in the next episode of The Bachelorette, especially if it’s maybe-kinda-totally important to Holm and his family.
