An American Idol Apology: For the Wrong Thing?!
| February 3, 2011 at 8:07 AM ESTAmerican Idol is sorry, truly and really very sorry. Or, you know, just enjoys being cheesy. It depends on your sense of humor. And despite that, should American Idol have apologized for something that they’ve glossed over?

American Idol may be sorry, but is Steven Tyler?
On last night’s episode of AI, a black title card ran first. It read: “American Idol would like to apologize for last week’s outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again.”
The apology followed a video clip of Tyler letting a contestant know that his last name of “Muck” rhymes with more than just “duck.”
Was this apology real or was it entirely a joke? Was it necessary? Were you offended last week by the “Muck” joke? If they thought it was in bad taste, would they really have aired it again? But is there something American Idol SHOULD apologize for? Possibly…
Tyler has been sexual and lewd to the female contestants. The real offense fans have been taken is to his sexual comments. It hasn’t exactly gone noticed. But of course, American Idol apologizing for showing that would be silly, since they’re the ones who choose to edit the video to include those gems. Oh, TV gossip, I love you.
