When Adam Levine realized both Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons had been eliminated on The Voice 2013 last night, he muttered, “I hate this country.”

Because this country wants to make a big deal out of everything, people got mad and took it literally.

Today, Levine issued a statement. As reported by EW, he said this…

I obviously love my country very much and my comments last night were made purely out of frustration.

The Small Screen Scoop decoder: Guys, come on. I wasn’t the only one blown away last night. The network is lucky I didn’t curse! I was pissed off. And I was allowed to be. And anyone taking my statement too seriously is seriously deluded.

Being a part of The Voice, I am passionately invested in my team and want to see my artists succeed.

The Small Screen Scoop decoder: I really wanted to win. Now I probably won’t. Worse yet, Blake Shelton will. That’s the worst thing ever. And I think America was dumb not to vote for Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons!

Last night’s elimination of Judith and Sarah was confusing and downright emotional for me and my comments were made based on my personal dissatisfaction with the results.

The Small Screen Scoop decoder: You are all idiots not to keep Judith and Sarah around! You know it, I know it, and everyone on that stage knew it. I hate how we have the voting, and it needs to change.

I am very connected to my artists and know they have long careers ahead, regardless of their outcome on the show.

The Small Screen Scoop decoder: I am still going to support Hill and Simmons. They were too good, and didn’t need this show anymore anyway, I guess. Still, woulda been nice to win.
